Premier League fantasy football tips: The one must-have player to have in your team this season

07/30/2019

We are SO ready for the start of the Premier League season.

But while we wait, we’ve been deciding which players to pick for our fantasy football team for the upcoming campaign.

Harry Kane, Virgil van Dijk, Aaron Wan-Bissaka… they’ve all got their place.

But there’s one player we think could rise above them all this season and finish at the very top of our points-table.

Last summer we predicted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be our best points-scorer, and while he finished just short of Eden Hazard and Raheem Sterling’s final haul; he was by and large the best striker on the game.

So this time around, we’re politely coaxing you into the direction of Man City’s Bernardo Silva.

Why you should play Dream Team this season

Bernardo was undoubtedly one of the Premier League’s outstanding players in 2018/19, with his manager Pep Guardiola even going as far as describing him as ‘the first name on the team-sheet’ at City.

Having joined the club in the summer of 2017, Silva played a bit-part role in the team in his first season, but he excelled his second campaign as a central-midfielder, covering the injury-stricken Kevin De Bruyne for long portions of the season.

In fact, back in April, we described him as the most-consistent player on Dream Team.

In the end, the Portuguese dynamo ended the season with 129 points, although his 2019 haul was particularly impressive as he was heavily utilised in a more attacking-role.

In total, he notched nine goals and ten assists across all competitions, although we’re most-interested in his brilliant tally of 20 7+ ratings.

On Dream Team, a 7+ rating – courtesy of our friends over at WhoScored – is an easy way of picking up consistent fantasy football points.

And this season we think he’ll be even better.

City are going all out for the Champions League this term and will be the favourites to re-claim the Premier League title.

And you can bet your life that Bernardo will be front and centre of Pep’s side in both competitions.

What’s more, comparatively he’s a real Dream Team bargain – considering Raheem Sterling and De Bruyne are valued at £6.5m and £6m respectively – Silva is in the second-bracket of £4.5m alongside unsettled Spurs midfielder Christian Eriken and unfancied Leroy Sane.

So let’s summarise, shall we?

Silva will be the first-name on City’s team-sheet this season as they look to go far in two competitions, he’s by and large the league’s most consistent player, and he’s even had a summer off to recuperate – apart from his starring role in Portugal’s Nations League triumph.

Time to get ‘im in your Dream Team.
