Mum left mortified after dad-in-law makes comments as she breastfed

A mum has been left mortified after her father-in-law made disgusting comments to her as she breastfed her baby son.

The woman’s husband shared the incident online after he made his father apologise to his sobbing wife.

Posting to Reddit in the “Am I the A**hole” sub-forum, the man claimed his parents turned up unannounced and found his wife feeding their infant son.

His dad went on to make several inappropriate comments about his wife’s breasts – which left her feeling severely uncomfortable.

Do you think the wife was correct to call her father-in-law out? Tell us in the comments…

The bloke wrote: "On Friday night my parents dropped by our house on short notice. We weren't really prepared for them but we let them in any way.

"My wife was sitting in a chair in our living room breastfeeding our son when my dad walked in.

"He did not see anything other than my wife's boob (not nipple), but based on that he decided he had to comment so he told her that he could see why his grandson was so well fed.

"Then when my mum walked in he told her something like 'we don't have to worry about John starving by the looks of it'.

"My wife is very insecure about her body post-baby, so she was very upset and in tears."

The man forced his dad to say sorry which the wife accepted and then moved on.

Unfortunately, the bloke later discovered his wife had texted his dad a message “raking him over the coals for what he said and telling him he was a pervert, disgusting and she didn't want him in her home again for a long time".

While her husband said he understands his dad was in the wrong, he thinks his wife was out of order messaging him after he had apologised.

Hundreds of outraged mums commented on the bloke’s post in support of his wife.

One woman wrote: “TBH, I’m on your wife’s side. Comments like those from men make women feel extremely vulnerable and uncomfortable.

"We deal with that on a daily basis, and to have that happen to you in your own home is horrible.

"What your dad did is sexual harassment.

"He sexualised your wife while she was feeding your child.”

They continued: “Doesn’t matter if he apologised, your wife does not feel safe around him right now and you 100% need to respect that.

“If my FIL [father-in-law] said that to me I wouldn’t want him around me either and wouldn’t trust or feel comfortable with him probably ever again honestly."

"My jaw actually dropped when I heard what he said,” added another. “What a disgusting thing to say."

While a third added: “I was expecting it to be some stupid comment about how she should cover-up, which is ridiculous too, but his comments were disgusting."
