Lewis Hamilton surpassed Jim Clark and Alain Prost by winning the British GP for a record sixth time.

The championship pace-setter got the better of teammate Valtteri Bottas, who started on pole, to take the lead and from that stage never looked like relinquishing his advantage.

Hamilton led by over 20 seconds entering the final laps of the race and cruised to his sixth win in the race, surpassing both Clark and Prost and moving two clear of Nigel Mansell.

With Bottas second, it was another dominant display from the Silver Arrows who are on course for their sixth constructors’ title in succession.

F1 Drivers Championship Standings

1 Lewis Hamilton Mercedes 197
2 Valtteri Bottas Mercedes 166
3 Max Verstappen Red Bull 126
4 Sebastian Vettel Ferrari 123
5 Charles Leclerc Ferrari 105

The real drama in Sunday’s race came in an incident between Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, as the former ploughed into the back of the Red Bull on lap 37.

Both drivers were somehow able to continue, Verstappen finishing an excellent fifth, but Vettel incurred a 10-second penalty and was outside of the points as his frustrating season continued.

The German’s misery was compounded by an excellent drive from Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc, who took the final podium spot in a procession for Mercedes and Hamilton, who crowned a superb display with the lap record on the final circuit.
