How the moon will affect your love life this month and on Valentine's Day

02/05/2021

Okay, so you’ve read your February tarotscope, chosen the perfect Valentine’s Day gift based on your partner’s star sign, and planned a day of romance according to your alignment.

Have you given any thought to the moon?

Many people reckon that the moon has quite an impact on our lives, especially in terms of our emotions and relationships.

With the New Moon and Full Moon happening this month, as well as Valentine’s Day, it’s probably worth taking a deeper look into how the moon might affect our love life.

So, we chatted with an expert – Ashley Cramer, the creator of Lunar Alignment – to find out all we need to know.

What’s happening with the moon in February?

‘In any month, New Moon and Full Moon are the strongest lunar energies, meaning we feel the moon’s influence most around those dates – the New Moon starts a lunar cycle, and the Full Moon is the lunar cycle’s climax,’ explains Ashley.

This means there are two key dates you need to be conscious of in February: the New Moon in Aquarius on February 11, and the Full Moon in Virgo on February 27.

The New Moon in Aquarius is all about ‘breakthroughs, innovation, and awakening’, so it’s worth planning for some interesting revelations on February 11.

‘Aquarius is more concerned with freedom than convention and reminds us that no dream is too big or out of the box because Aquarius believes that there is no box,’ says Ashley. ‘During this time, you may find yourself pondering the big picture of your life and your true purpose.

‘That’s very Aquarian. She is obsessed with progress, and her futuristic energy calls us to focus on our grandest visions and make moves toward the next level of our existence.

‘Under the new moon, write down your big, bold dreams, and set intentions to make them happen. Don’t shy away from ideas that seem too “out there” – under Aquarian energy, let your freak flag fly.’

Sounds good. What about that other date, February 27?

As it’s the Full Moon in Virgo, it’s all about those Virgo traits of self-discipline and motivation.

On this day, get organised and ponder your big goals – but beware of getting caught up in self-criciticm.

‘The full moon illuminates things that are holding us back, and Virgo, being the disciplinarian of the Zodiac, is going to help you make swift changes, especially when it comes to daily routines and wellness,’ Ashley says.

‘It’s a good time to check-in on your New Year’s resolutions and get back on track or start a new routine now.

‘Virgo energy can make people feel really anxious, so beware that you might be edgy around this Full Moon.’

How will the moon affect our love life in February?

‘The moon affects our love lives because it’s directly connected to our emotions. In astrology, the moon rules our emotions or our inner worlds,’ says Ashley. ‘As it passes through the signs of the Zodiac, we feel that astrological influence.

‘When we know what’s happening with the moon, it can help us understand our relationship with people around us.

‘The moon rules emotions at a collective level, meaning that the moon influences everyone’s emotions similarly.’

Throughout February, that Aquarius energy will filter through to make us more pensive, creative, and independent – in all areas, including our relationships.

Expect big realisations, try new things, and if you fancy someone, now’s the time to express your feelings.

How will the moon affect Valentine’s Day?

On Valentine’s Day, the moon will be in Aries, which could spark your passionate, fiery side. It’s a great time to spice things up in your relationship.

However, it’s important to ensure that fire and spice doesn’t get channelled in the wrong direction.

‘This Valentine’s Day, we need to watch our tempers – beware of lovers’ quarrels,’ Ashley tells us.

‘Aries energy can be self-centered, impulsive, stubborn, and even angry. Aries doesn’t like to keep its feelings to itself and does not worried about who it offends – Aries would rather be right than be kind.

‘With the moon in Aries, small issues with your partner could escalate quickly.’

The right direction to go in, rather than arguing, is the sexy side of things.

Ashley advises: ‘Make this Valentine’s Day HOT. This is not the year for sappy romantic comedy style romance.

‘Aries is fire energy – active, passionate, and sexual. Aries fires up our libidos and stamina, so plan to make your Valentine’s Day sexy.

‘The moon in Aries combined with the influence of the New Moon in Aquarius from Febuary 11 makes it the perfect time to try new things and get a little kinky.’

Interesting.

Basically, we’re all going to be high energy on V Day, so it’s crucial to burn that off in a good way.

‘If that energy isn’t used for fun, there’s potential for it to turn to aggression and fights,’ says Ashley.

Along with getting frisky, Ashley also recommends some sort of outdoors activity, playing games (Aries loves competition), and some incorporation of fire, whether that’s a candlelit dinner or cuddling up by the fireplace.
