We partnered with OxiClean™ to help make all your holiday celebrations go off without hitting any snags.

It’s no secret — the holidays can get real messy, real fast. No matter how beautiful your tablescape is at the beginning of the night, someone is bound to spill something, either on the table itself (and your gorgeous fabric placemats) or right in their lap. Thankfully, we’ve got the scoop on how to treat stains so your table linens and favorite holiday outfit won’t be any worse for the wear. Keep reading to find out how to handle these holiday hiccups with ease.

Everyday Stains: Add OxiClean™ to Your Laundry

OK, say you dribbled some gravy on the pretty table runner or had to wipe up some sweet-potato spillage with your nice linen napkins. Those stains will likely just need a good launder with the addition of OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover. It’s chlorine-free, color-safe, and super versatile. Just add OxiClean™ along with detergent to your load of laundry — it works in both High Efficiency (HE) and non-HE washing machines to get your clothes extra clean.

Set-In Stains: Pretreat

This is for those heavy-duty stains: think red wine, cranberry sauce, and excess oil. Now, you have a couple routes you could take. Try presoaking your item in a solution of OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover and water. Mix until it’s fully dissolved according to the package instructions, then submerge and soak your item for one to six hours depending on the severity of the stain. Then go ahead and wash with detergent as normal.

Another path could be to go straight for OxiClean™ Max Force™ Spray, especially if the stain has already dried. Spray Max Force™ directly on the stain until it’s saturated, and let it sit for five minutes or up to a week, depending on how bad the stain is. Then, wash with your regular detergent on the hottest possible setting recommended by the manufacturer. Just remember: you don’t want to spray this bad boy on silk, wool, leather, and fabrics labeled “dry clean only.”

Around the Home: Spot Clean

Say some of that apple or pecan pie filling made it onto your rug. Never fear — OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover can be used as a spot treatment on water-washable home fabrics as well. Just follow package directions and make a solution by mixing it with water, then blot with a clean, white towel. You can repeat this as much as you need until the stain has fully faded, then rinse with clean water and blot until dry.
