Argos website outage leaves parents furious as they were unable to buy Christmas gifts

ARGOS' website went down this morning leaving parents unable to buy Christmas presents for their kids.

The retailer said it was making updates "so it's easier and faster to shop".

But the move left parents unable to stock up on toys and other presents just two weeks before Christmas.

The website outage was scheduled but it appears to have gone on for longer than planned.

Argos said yesterday that the website would be down between 1am and 6am this morning.

However, it only came back online at around 8:30am this morning.

The retailer said yesterday: "Our website will be down from 1am, sorry for any inconvenience.

"We’re making some updates and we'll be back up and running again at 6am. See you then!"

Customers took to Twitter to vent their frustration at the delay.

One shopper said: "Any news when it’s going to be back up and running I hoped to be ordering and paying for my Xmas stuff by now."

Another wrote: Any ideas when you will be back open to shop online please? 8.08am and still waiting to get daughter's toys for Christmas but your site is still offline..?"

"Congrats Argos for exceeding the 5h long downtime by almost two other hours and still counting," a third customer added.

The Sun has contacted Argos for comment.
