Y's by Yohji Yamamoto Releases "Y's 1972" 50th-Anniversary Collection

Yohji Yamamoto‘s Y’s label has released its new “Y’s 1972” collection in commemoration of the brand’s 50th-anniversary.

Founded in 1972, Y’s was the first brand that the avant-garde Japanese designer started before other labels under his name emerged such as Y-3, Ground Y, and his eponymous Yohji Yamamoto brand. To celebrate Y’s half-century mark, Yamamoto delivers a collection featuring a host of the brand’s signature forms in black and white including contrast-stitched gabardine wool suit jackets, draped blouses, broad double shirts, dresses, buttoned overalls, workwear-inspired shirts jackets, and military half-pants. Pieces are adorned with blue and red logo patches fixed with rough open-ended stitching, reminiscent of the Y’s Fall/Winter 2003 collection, as well as black pigment print branding.

The “Y’s 1972” collection is now available in limited quantities at THE SHOP Yohji Yamamoto and select physical retailers.

Elsewhere in fashion, Fear of God’s Eternal collection evokes quiet confidence.
