Here’s everything we know about the latest film adaptation of DH Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover, which is set to star Jack O’Connell and The Crown actor Emma Corrin.

It seems as though book-to-screen adaptations are all the rage recently but luckily for us, we can’t get enough of seeing our favourite books come to life on the big and small screen.

Judging by the looks of it, neither can our favourite actors. From Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor starring in Naoise Dolan’s Exciting Times to Florence Pugh being set to appear in Emma Donoghue’s The Wonder, all the big names are helping to reimagine these stories.

And now, we can add Jack O’Connell to the list.

According to Deadline, the actor will star alongside The Crown’s Emma Corrin in the remake of DH Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover. You just know it’s going to be good.

There have been a few screen adaptations of the story in the past, including a 2015 BBC series starring Holliday Grainger and Richard Madden, and an earlier 1993 BBC series with Sean Bean and Joely Richardson.

Now, Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre (Mrs. America, The Act) will direct a new film. Life of Pi screenwriter David Magee will pen the script. Excitingly, the adaptation will be the first film to be produced under the new Sony-Netflix partnership.

Variety reports that Golden Globe Winner Corrin is set to star in the lead role of Lady Chatterley, with theatre actor Matthew Duckett also signing up for the film.

Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D.H. Lawrence is being adapted for a new film.

What is Lady Chatterley’s Lover about?

The classic period romance was considered scandalous for its explicit descriptions of sex when it was published in Italy in 1928. In fact, the book was banned in the UK when its publishers were brought to trial under the Obscene Publications Act. It wasn’t until 1960 that the book was published in the UK in its entirety.

The story follows the wealthy and privileged Lady Chatterley, who finds herself married to a man she doesn’t love and engages in an affair with a working-class gamekeeper on their estate.

After realising that her affair provides her with the love that was missing in her marriage, Lady Chatterley deviates from society’s expectations and follows her heart instead of her head.

That’s everything we know about Lady Chatterley’s Lover for now, but we’ll be sure to update fans when further details are released.

In the meantime, with it promising sex, scandal and a whole lot of sleaze, we can’t contain our excitement for this upcoming adaptation.
