Casual Slouch Interrupts Dries Van Noten's FW21 Tailoring

Dries Van Noten is “dressing for our days,” according to the release that accompanies his Fall/Winter 2021 collection. Rife with rich textiles and flourishes, the range is cut looser than Van Noten’s previous efforts, blending elements of formality and sportswear in a relaxed hybrid that feels appropriate for endless days spent working from home.

The new normal is explored by way of Van Noten signatures, like generous car coats, flattering suits and vividly printed shirts, offered in cuts ranging from loose to trim. FW21 further strays from stiffness with an infusion of youthful cool, serving cozy undergarments, woven cardigans, padded nylon bucket hats and quilted trousers in bold tones.

Van Noten’s self-described “tonal spectrum” grants the range a vivid palette saturated with organic shades and necktie-inspired patterns, further lightening the selection of layering pieces and accessories. Soft shoes, sandals and loafers make for easy outside ventures, while knit legwarmers neatly straddle the divide, removing the need to dress either for the inside or the outside.

Other Fall/Winter 2021 presentations recently came in from Rick Owens, Homme Plissé Issey Miyake and ERL.
