Serena Williams vs. Alison Riske

Williams has looked more confident as the tournament has worn on, dispatching of her latest opponent, Carla Suárez Navarro, 6-2, 6-2, in just 1 hour 4 minutes on Monday. In the first match on Centre Court on Tuesday (8 a.m. ESPN), she will play against Riske, who reached the quarterfinals by ending the 15-match winning streak of top-ranked Ashleigh Barty. Riske has needed three sets in each of her matches, but has knocked out three seeded players on her way to her first Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance. This won’t be Williams’s only match on Centre Court on Tuesday: she also will play mixed doubles with Andy Murray against Fabrice Martin and Raquel Atawo later in the afternoon.

Simona Halep vs. Zhang Shuai

Before this year’s Wimbledon, Zhang, a doubles specialist, was 0-5 in singles matches on the grass of the All England Club. In the last week she is 4-0. It will be a great challenge to win her fifth match, as the seventh-seeded Halep has looked dominant in her run to the quarterfinals. Halep, a former world No. 1, handily defeated Cori Gauff, the 15-year-old breakout star of the tournament, in the round of 16 and will look to end Zhang’s Cinderella run too on No. 1 Court (8 a.m., ESPN2).

Barbora Strycova vs. Johanna Konta

Following Williams and Riske on Centre Court will be Strycova and Konta, who have each reached the semifinals at Wimbledon before. Strycova, one of the world’s best doubles players, is in her second singles quarterfinal at a major in her career, five years after her semifinal run at the All England Club. The No. 16 seeded Konta, the top British player, will have the support of the home crowd as she attempts to reach her fourth Grand Slam semifinal. She was among the final four at the French Open last month and at Wimbledon in 2017.

Elina Svitolina vs. Karolina Muchova

Muchova defeated the third-seeded Karolina Pliskova on Monday, breaking late in order to win the third set, 13-11. After such an exhausting contest, she may have trouble against the eighth-seeded Svitolina in the second match on No. 1 Court (ESPN2). Muchova, a 22-year-old Czech ranked 68th, is playing Wimbledon for the first time, but seems to have a style suited to the grass. Though Svitolina has been a top-10 player for past two years, this will be her first Wimbledon quarterfinal.
