Vinnie Jones' wife Tanya, 53, laid to rest in 'beautiful funeral service' in LA

Vinnie Jones’s wife Tanya has been laid to rest in Los Angeles.

Tanya Jones, who had been married to the actor for 25 years, tragically died on 6 July at the age of 53 after a long battle with cancer.

Showbiz reporter Ross King, who was at the funeral, told Lorraine today that it was a ‘beautiful service’.

Lorraine said: ‘Very sad this morning. You have just been to the funeral of Tanya, Vinnie Jones’ wife of course. Not unexpected, but it’s just so sad isn’t it.’

Ross paid tribute to Tanya and replied: ‘So sad. Gone just at the age of 53. A wonderful, courageous woman.

‘You only had to meet Tanya once to feel like you really knew her and she really knew you.

‘She really had a magic about her. It was a beautiful service for a beautiful lady.’

Lorraine added: ‘Our thoughts are with everybody who loved her. Very sad.’

Tanya had battled various health problems for many years and received treatment for cervical cancer twice.

A representative for Jones confirmed Tanya’s passing in a statement: ‘At 8.46am local time in Los Angeles on Saturday, July 6, Vinnie Jones‘ wife, Tanya Jones, passed away after a long illness.

‘Tanya passed peacefully at the Jones family home surrounded by Vinnie, their daughter and other family members.

‘Vinnie and the family ask for privacy while they go through an understandable period of mourning during this devastating time.’

The Mean Machine star, 54, reportedly returned to work on Celebrity X Factor earlier this week. He had signed up to take part before Tanya passed away.

A source revealed to The Sun: ‘Vinnie had agreed to be part of the show some time ago but that was before he went through the tragedy of losing his wife.

‘Obviously, most of the team expected a phone call saying he wouldn’t be involved any more.

‘But instead, he came along and made it clear he wants to throw himself straight into this project.

‘It must be incredibly tough for him right now so the producers gave him the option to delay for as long as he wants.

‘But he’s keen to plough on — perhaps something to focus on will help him.’

Celebrity X Factor will air alongside an all-star version of the show featuring former stars later this year.
