The reason strict Kate and William did not allow kids to go to Together at Christmas concert12/09/2021
Kate Middleton and husband Prince William looked picture of happiness as they shared loving looks at the Together at Christmas this week.
While there was speculation as to whether their three children – Prince George, eight, Charlotte, six and Louis, three – would be in attendance, the couple headed out to the festive concert alone.
And according to royal expert Duncan Larcombe, the couple would have broken a rule they have for their children had they attended the concert.
"The reality is that William and Kate have a rule that they do not take the children on any official engagements," Duncan explains, "we only really see them on the balcony waving at set piece royal events, but there are exceptions to that rule like when George was at Wembley for the Euros final."
The expert also explained that the couple don't usually allow the kids out during the week.
He added: "It was on a school night and they are pretty strict. The children are in a rather strict regime so that might have been the reason, but the fact it was a televised official engagement it's interesting because I think it shows that William and Kate are still reluctant to focus too greatly officially on their family and their children."
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were all smiles as they arrived at the concert in London this week.
Kate, 39, dazzled in a red coat dress that had gorgeous bow detailing, which she paired with matching red heels. Her husband William, also 39, looked dapper in a suit with a red tie.
The event was spearheaded by the Duchess and, as per a statement from Kensington Palace, the service will “pay tribute to the incredible work of individuals and organisations across the UK who have supported their communities through the COVID-19 pandemic”.
Readings will be delivered by speakers including The Duke of Cambridge, British Paralympian and junior doctor Kim Daybell, and Kate Garraway.
The festive event will be broadcast on ITV on Christmas Eve at 7.30pm, in the wake of William allegedly falling out with the BBC.
