The Kinks Announce 50th Anniversary Reissue Of ‘Arthur’
08/02/2019To mark the album’s 50th anniversary, English rock band The Kinks have announced a special release of Arthur (Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire).
The 50th anniversary reissue, which includes previously unreleased track “The Future,” is scheduled for release on October 25 via BMG.
Arthur (Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire), which was the Kinks’ seventh studio album, is thought of as one of the greatest rock albums ever made.
Rolling Stone has described Arthur as “a masterpiece on every level” and “the best British album of 1969.”
“I felt very comfortable being in The Kinks and it seemed fulfilling to be part of a band. I didn’t really want for more. I couldn’t see the point,” said Ray Davies, the lead singer of the Kinks.
Included in this anniversary edition are 4 CDs consisting of 81 tracks in total, 5 of them unreleased and 28 previously unreleased versions.
