Gillian Anderson has vowed never to wear the bra again because she finds them too uncomfortable.

The iconic actress made the wardrobe confession during a candid Instagram Q&A on Tuesday, when she was asked what her go-to lockdown outfit was.

The 52 year old star explained to her 1.8million followers that because she was "so lazy" she "doesn't wear a bra anymore".

"I can't wear a bra. I can't. I'm sorry, there's no… I don't care if my breasts reach my belly button. I'm not wearing a bra anymore," the star, who wowed with her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in season four of The Crown, explained.

Making her point further, the former X-Files star added: "It's just too f***ing uncomfortable."

Others rallied behind her on the decision, with one person stating on social media there was no need for women to wear "restrictive" bras.

Another wrote: "All bra's do is make you feel uncomfortable hate them."

A third rightfully added that "he choice was hers" on whether she wanted to wear a bra or not.

Gillian has never been busier, and her brilliant depiction of Margaret Thatcher in The Crown last year earned her award season success.

She won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for the role.

Gillian is currently gearing up for the release of the second season of Netflix's Sex Education, in which she plays sex therapist Jean Milburn.

She will also be seen in the upcoming television series, The First Lady, where she will take on the role of Eleanor Roosevelt.
