Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2016 New Year Honours for her services to the economy. Taking to Instagram yesterday, the 37-year-old said it was five years to the date that she collected her honour while heavily pregnant.

At the time, she was due to give birth to her second son Charlie.

Reflecting on the fifth anniversary of the big moment, she said on Instagram: “I can’t believe it, honestly, it feels like no time at all.

“If you’re looking at it [the picture] and thinking my word, she looks like she’s about to drop, I literally was.

“I gave birth to our Charlie like 2 or 3 days later.”

The businesswoman went on to say: “I remember being in my six inch stilettos waddling up to Prince William and he took one look at my bump and was like, ‘Wow, that looks like it’s coming soon’ and I was like, ‘Yeah it is. I’m going to the hospital later after this’.

“I tell you what it was memorable, if nothing else,” she added.

Sara went on to share snaps of the day on her page, where she has 87,000 followers.

In one picture, she was seen smiling as the Prince presented her with her MBE.

Other snaps saw Sara with her family including her husband Simon and their other son Oliver.

Since the big moment, she has risen to fame on BBC show Dragons’ Den.

She is now currently competing on Strictly Come Dancing with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec.

On adding the show to her busy schedule, she recently told Teesside Live: “At first the kids saw Strictly as taking me away from home but Aljaz said to me, ‘What can I do to help?’ We start early, 6am meet and train so we don’t have to compromise.

“The kids now think it is awesome, they’ve got a new friend. One of the kids wanted to re-watch the launch show at 5.30am the other morning so they could watch Aljaz. He had his hair slicked back on Saturday night and they wanted the same style – it melts my heart.

“He has embraced my family life, he gets on with my husband like a house on fire.

“I feel like I’m having my cake and eating it, I’m living my best life.”

Sara and Aljaz are still in the running to win the Glitterball trophy this series.

So far, their highest score was for their Foxtrot to Dream A Little Dream by Cass Elliot.

Hard to please judge Craig Revel Horwood said of the routine: “Look at what we’ve just witnessed, absolutely incredible.

“Ballroom is definitely your bag my darling.”

Head judge Shirley Ballas added: “I don’t think I’ve got a mark in there that’s high enough for you today.”
