England fans have been criticised in recent weeks for booing Denmark and Germany’s respective national anthems. One attendee also shone a laser at goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel as Harry Kane, 27, took a penalty earlier this week.Match of the Day host Gary Lineker has since hit out at such culprits, to which Piers Morgan, 56, echoed.

UEFA have charged England for disturbance caused by its supporters during national anthem and lighting of fireworks by its supporters.

The Control Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) announced that England had been found guilty of three different charges.

In view of his eight million followers, Gary wrote: “If you’re lucky enough to get a ticket for the final, please, please don’t boo the Italian anthem.

“A/ It’s an absolute belter and worth listening to. B/ It’s b****y rude, disrespectful and utterly classless.”

Echoing his comments, Piers wrote in view of his followers: “Totally agree.

“Let’s be classy & respectful, England fans – the world will be watching.”

Many of Piers’ 7.9 million fans flocked to his post to comment.

One wrote: “Why anyone wants to boo another country’s national anthem is beyond me.

“It’s so disrespectful and embarrassing.”

A second added: “I will sing God save the queen in Italian if our boys carry on like this!

“Proud of being English but also proud of the true English spirit of acceptance!”

A third added: “Totally agree, embarrassing to hear booing of another nation’s national anthem.

Piers’ tweet came a day before he was branded a “hypocrite” for attending England’s semi-final game at Wembley Stadium earlier this week.

The ex Good Morning Britain presenter shared a selfie of him celebrating as Gareth Southgate’s team made it through to the final after a 2-1 score.

In view of his 1.7 million followers, he wrote: “BOOOOOOOOMMMM!!”

Many fans queried his attendance after he hit out at the Prime Minister’s plan to scrap Covid restrictions just a day before.

“Biggest hypocrite out there @piersmorgan,” one raged.

A second added: “Two days ago he’s saying we are coming out of lockdown too soon, clearly not following his own advice. Obviously not too concerned.”

A third penned: The man who has continually criticized people without masks, not following rules, big crowds that ‘kill people’ Cheltenham in particular. Calling people covidiots for having a view or questioning anything. Tonight is football and heyho, amongst thousands of people. Where’s truth eh?”(sic) a third person remarked.

Others sent their support for England on Piers post.

The following day, the journalist returned to social media to defend his time at Wembley Stadium.

He penned: “Very happy to attend outdoor events where everyone is either fully vaccinated or has had a lateral flow test.

“Not so happy if everything gets opened up on July 19 without such requirements, and with covid cases surging so fast + many millions still unvaccinated.”
