Nicola Roberts, 35, has joined her bandmate Nadine Coyle, 36, in paying tribute to their Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding, following her death from breast cancer at the age of 39. Nicola took to Instagram to share her heartbreak over the sad news in view of her 327,000 followers this evening.

The star explained she “can’t accept that this day has come” following Sarah’s diagnosis last year.

She penned alongside a series of throwback photos of herself and Sarah from their days in Girls Aloud: “I’m absolutely devastated and I can’t accept that this day has come.

“My heart is aching and all day everything we went through together has raced round my mind.

“Especially this last year since her diagnosis, as hard as the year has been, our new memories are strong in my heart.”

Nicola went on to admit she wasn’t sure whether to post her tribute to Sarah, as it “felt too personal”.

However, she changed her mind when she remembered many others would be grieving alongside her today.

“There are so many things to say and at first it felt to personal to put them here and then I remembered that there are so many other people grieving her too.(sic)

“A part of me or us isn’t here anymore and it’s unthinkable and painful and utterly cruel.
