The fashion mogul, who decided to leave her ultra-Orthodox Jewish community eight years ago, divulges that death was the only way to escape from her former life.

AceShowbizJulia Haart has gotten candid about her sex life before leaving her ultra-Orthodox Jewish community. The “My Unorthodox Life” star, who quit the “fundamentalist” community eight years ago, divulged that she had her first orgasm at the age of 35.

The 50-year-old fashion mogul shared her story when speaking to the New York Post. “The first orgasm I had was at age 35 – with a vibrator, after 16 years of marriage,” she spilled. “I never heard of an orgasm, let alone a vibrator.”

Julia went on to open up about her former life. “Where I lived, women were to be rarely seen and never heard. Our lives were governed by a web of modesty laws that required us to not only cover our bodies head-to-toe, but to behave comparatively, as well,” she explained. “You grow up thinking you don’t matter at all.”

Julia claimed 2013 was the turning point for her. After sneaking fashion magazines from local convenience stores and watching “Sex and the City“, she finally plucked up courage to leave her husband of 23 years and the community.

“The day came when I couldn’t take it anymore. I couldn’t stay for one more second,” she pointed out. “You’re trapped in a life that’s not yours. So it was stay and die, or walk out the door.”

Julia said she often contemplated suicide because she thought death was the only way to escape. “In the end, I decided the easiest way to kill myself would be to starve myself to death,” she elaborated. “That way, people wouldn’t think I killed myself – they would just think I have an eating disorder, so my children would still be able to get shidduchim [matchmaking prospects for marriage].”

Julia, who married her second husband Silvio Scaglia in 2019, is now the CEO of Elite World Group. It’s a talent media company that has represented numerous models, including Naomi Campbell, Kendall Jenner, Tyra Banks and Irina Shayk.

“I’ve been obsessed with fashion for as long as I can remember – which was very problematic in my world,” she noted. “Clothing is meant to cover and hide – certainly not to evoke personality, uniqueness or to draw attention, or to show femininity or sexuality. It’s all about disappearing into the background.”
