Max George issues health update after suffering injury on opening episode of The Games

Max George has given fans an update on his health after he suffered an injury during the men's 400m on Monday's opening episode of The Games.

The Wanted singer took to his Instagram stories to let followers know he had been put on an intravenous drip after suffering from dehydration and a perforated eardrum.

Max, 33, later updated fans from bed saying he had been put on painkillers and was set to visit the hospital on Tuesday.

He said: "Hey guys. So obviously I pulled up earlier. So the last few days have been a bit of a rough one. I perforated my ear drum a couple of days ago.

"It's been causing me quite a lot of dizziness. I’ve been on loads of pain medication so I think I just got dehydrated. But all good. I’ve been rehydrated.

"I’m in the hospital tomorrow to have it checked on and just make sure that everything is OK and fingers crossed that I get the nod to be able to do the swimming cause that’s an event that I love.

"Yeah it’s just been a rough couple of days and there’s a lot of people asking what happened? am I alright? I’m all good, just a bit shaky with my ear and yeah like just got a bit dehydrated cause I’m on a s**tload of pain meds, but all love and hopefully see you tomorrow."

The new series sees 12 super-fit celebs compete in sporting challenges, including in an athletics arena, swimming pool, gymnasium and velodrome.

At the end of the episode, it saw the men's 400m where Max finished in last place and Wes Nelson won as the commentator explained: "At the back, limping over the line carrying an injury, Max George."

It then showed Max, 33, clutching his leg as some of his co-stars supported him following the race.

During The Games, six male and six female contestants will compete in the athletics arena, the swimming pool, gymnasium and velodrome with the hope of racking up points on the medals table and eventually being crowned Champion of The Games.

Hosted by Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff, the show features competitors current Corrie star Colson Smith, Harry Potter actor Josh Herdman, author, model and National Autistic Society ambassador Christine McGuinness, newsreader Lucrezia Millarini and Emmerdale star Rebecca Sarker.

Love Island stars Olivia Attwood and Wes Nelson, influencer Phoenix Gulzar-Brown, ex-Strictly professional Kevin Clifton, The Wanted's Max, and songwriter Chelcee Grimes also feature.

The Games continues this week at 9pm on ITV.
