Julia Bradbury filmed herself in the shower and later shared the footage on social media. The swimsuit-clad ex Countryfile star could be seen washing her hair as she spoke about the benefits of plastic-free shampoo for the environment.

The 51-year-old sported a black button down swimsuit as she addressed her 101,000 followers, while cleaning her brunette tresses.

Julia dubbed it the “plastic-free shampoo bar test” when she posted the footage online.

The TV presenter pointed out that it wasn’t her shower she was using as she stepped under the cold water.

She then turned the water off as she massaged her scalp in order to reduce wastage.

“The bathroom is a tricky area to get rid of plastic. Shampoo bars are a great switch for all of us – if they work for you,” she wrote in the caption of her post.

“This one by @gruum_hq is hand made in England & apparently lasts for 60 washes.

“It doesn’t claim to be vegan or natural, but it definitely soaps up,” she explained.

The mum-of-three went on to tag a number of big name beauty brands into her post, in the hope of encouraging them to reduce their use of plastic.

“Would be great if we could get @lorealparis @palmoliveuk @revlon_uk to commit to more plastic-free packaging/products,” she continued, before speaking of the damage plastic pollution does to the environment.

“We need to stem the flow of plastic pollution: there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish by 2050 if we continue like this and only 9 per cent of ALL the plastic ever produced has been recycled.”

Offering some advice on more ethical and sustainable products, Julia added: “Check out @nonplasticbeach and @andkeepshopping @livecocouk @thehealthylivingstore for sustainable, ethical, earth-friendly products.”

Julia told her followers that she would be testing the condition bar later on before signing off with the hashtags: “#plasticfreebeauty #plasticalternative #plasticpollution #beauty #health #planet #shampoo #hair #test.”

Many took to the comments section of her post to share their thoughts.

“Cue the fellas ‘you look fit’ and cue the ladies ‘interesting product, thank you’,” one follower remarked.

“Definitely try the lush shampoo bars as they are amazing. The gruum ones are great but couldn’t tempt me away from the lush ones. They invented them in 1988 and are vegan and UK too,” another added.

“Gorgeous eco champion,” a third remarked.

Julia, a keen walker, regularly shares encouraging posts about health and wellbeing on the picture-sharing site.

Just last week, she was seen performing a handstand and spoke of the benefits the yoga move offers.

She said the practice works the core and improves balance as well as increases circulation and lymph flow.

It also engages your whole body.

She is also seen cycling and hiking outdoors.
