Jodie Comer and Emerald Fennell in frame to play Coleen and Rebekah in Wagatha drama

Killing Eve's Jodie Comer and Emerald Fennell, who starred in The Crown, are reportedly in the frame to play Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy in a TV drama.

Rebekah, 40, launched legal action after Coleen, 36, claimed her fellow WAG's Instagram account was linked to stories about her leaking to the press.

The seven day-long trial took place back in May and after a wait of over eight weeks, Mrs Justice Karen Steyn delivered her verdict on Friday 29 July – announcing that Rebekah had lost.

Now, according to The Sun, three production companies – not named – are in the race to strike a deal for the Wagatha Christie title, which allegedly could be turned into a movie or a TV series.

The publication has claimed the creators of BBC1 court drama A Very British Scandal are in the running to bring the ordeal to screen.

“The creative teams are determined to sign up major league actors," a TV insider said. "Jodie and Emerald have the gravity to pull off performances as two strong women locking horns in court.

“This is a race to deliver a serious depiction of the chain of events that saw the Wagatha case end up in court.”

Rumours around a movie, documentary or series being made has been growing in recent days following the trial last week as the Mirror recently reported that Coleen is in “advanced talks” to tell her story.

The publication claimed she could be set to tell her side in a documentary series to be made by Lorton films. The film company previously made the documentary Rooney about her footballer husband Wayne Rooney.

They also reported there’s a potential deal with Netflix on the cards, however it could also be snapped up by Amazon Prime.

The Liverpool born WAG will reportedly open up about failed attempts to find a resolution to the matter out of court and is also set to discuss her shock at the huge legal bill, which is said to have reached a whopping £3 million.

A friend of Coleen previously told the publication: “Coleen has remained quiet ever since that famous online post. But this could all change in what could be the TV event of the year.

“Viewers would see all the evidence that Coleen has forensically gathered via her online sleuthing and see why she is convinced that Rebekah leaked the stories about her and others.
