Marina Sirtis, who played Deanna Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG), has addressed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to speak publicly about their life in the Royal Family. Following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s landmark interview with Oprah Winfrey, Piers Morgan voiced his criticism of the couple during a heated discussion on Good Morning Britain earlier this year.

During the ITV broadcast, Piers unleashed a furious rant against Meghan and said he “he didn’t believe a word” the Duchess had told Oprah during their interview which aired in March.

In their explosive sit down chat, Prince Harry and Meghan explained what led them to quit royal life and to leave the UK, where they also addressed their mental health.

Marina has now opened up about the social media backlash she faced after the actress tweeted about Piers’ remarks on GMB.

The 66-year-old admitted she “ducked” after a torrent of online criticism.

Marina remarked: “I agreed with Piers Morgan and then I ducked.”

It comes after she took to Twitter and penned: “What is the world coming to? I agree with @piersmorgan. #GMB #MeghanandHarryonOprah.”

The Star Trek legend received a wave of comments, as one wrote: “Marina, I usually agree with you. I can’t believe you agree with Piers Morgan.”

“And for the first time I disagree with you,” another penned.

Piers left ITV’s Good Morning Britain over the comments he made about the Duchess of Sussex.

The Deanna Troi actress later confirmed that she was more in agreement with Prince Albert II of Monaco, who previously suggested that the royal couple’s Oprah interview did not have to be “laid out in the public sphere”.

Marina said that she doesn’t believe it is favourable for the royals to “air their dirty laundry”.

Addressing Harry and Meghan’s interview, she said: “I agree with Prince Albert of Monaco. He said, ‘It was a family matter and it should have been kept in the family.’

“I don’t agree with people airing their dirty laundry in public. I’ve never done it.

“There are things I could say about my family but I’ll say it to them.”

Marina added: “I think they were ill-advised in doing this. I worry now that there is no way back for them.”

The Star Trek legend said she was “disappointed” but added she has always loved Prince Harry.

Marina remarked: “I loved Harry. With the Invictus Games, his mental health work, and insisting on going to Afghanistan when he was in the army, when he wanted to do his bit.

“I thought he was a legend and then you know… this happens.”

During the royal couple’s interview with Oprah, which took place in an undisclosed location in Los Angeles, the pair opened up about the difficulties they faced during their time as senior royals, their lives in LA, and expecting their second child.

Meghan and Harry’s March interview has now been nominated for an Emmy award.
