Final Recordings By Gord Downie Featured In Upcoming Album

09/23/2020

Final recordings by The Tragically Hip‘s Gord Downie will be available in an upcoming new album.

The special double album titled, Away Is Mine, will feature tracks recorded months before Downie died. It will drop on October 17 via Arts & Crafts.

Two songs from the LP, “Hotel Worth” and “Useless Nights” have been dropped. Downie died in October last year following a battle with brain cancer.

In a press release, Josh Finlayson says, “There really wasn’t a plan to make a record. The whole thing was that I knew this was a great way to spend time with Gord, listening to music, talking about music, talking about things that we’d always talked about. And this just evolved pretty organically.”

Downie’s brother Patrick says, “This won’t be his last release, but these are the final 10 songs Gord sang before he passed away. The last time he ever sang into a mic. That’s pretty special to us.”
