Fern Britton reveals she’s on painkillers for an injured shoulder
Fern Britton, 63, has opened up about her emotions during lockdown while she embarked on a 5K walk in the rain this morning. The former This Morning star took to Twitter to share a video of her outing while admitting she had been feeling a bit “down” earlier in the day.
It comes after her estranged husband Phil Vickery, 59, insisted he is “completely happy” following their shock split, which they announced as a couple last year after over 20 decades together.
The mum-of-four could be seen being battered by the wind and torrential downpours while she chatted to fans.
She began by describing a bizarre meme which her daughter had spotted on social media before opening up about her day.
Fern said in view of her 79,000 followers: “Morning!

“My daughter showed me a picture on social media today of a woman who wrote underneath the photograph, ‘I survived 2020, I’ll survive 2021 and I won’t mind going out in the rain’.
“And the picture was a photograph of this lady sitting in the warm, indoors, with a lizard on her hair and that just made me think, God the world’s gone upside down hasn’t it?”
Fern went on to ask her fans how their days had been.
The author quizzed: “Are you having an up day or a down day, or upside down all the way through?
“Sometimes up, sometimes down, this morning I must admit I had a bit of a down when I looked in the mirror!”
Fern then drew attention to her new glasses, which she branded “terrifying”.
She continued: “Oh, these are my new glasses by the way.
“Terrifying aren’t they? Anyway, that’s beside the point.
“So I’m on a 5K walk in the rain and when I get back, I’m going to have a cup of tea, sit at my desk and continue writing for as long as I can, which will probably be six and a half minutes,” she quipped.

“So thinking of you all, it’s a bit wet and cold, but I’ll see you soon, bye!” Fern concluded.
Many of Fern’s fans took to the comments section of her post to compliment her on her glasses after the presenter shared her dislike for them.
One person reassuringly wrote: “Good afternoon Fern, hope all is good with you and that you didn’t get too wet. Loving the new glasses. Hope you enjoy the rest of your day and your writing. Take care and keep smiling lovely.”
Another added: “I find myself wanting to give you a hug. Probably because I know what you mean…. So .. consider yourself hugged. Also, can’t wait for your next book so maybe 7 1/2 minutes.”
A third fan commented: “I love your glasses! I looked at them before you mentioned them and thought how lovely and how well they suit you.”
Fern’s candid chat about her emotions comes after her ex Phil, who is a chef on This Morning, shared an insight into his personal life.
When quizzed on how he is doing following their recent split, Phil confirmed in a new interview with Entertainment Daily: “[I’m] completely happy. The kids are all good.”
The television stars share daughter Winnie, 17, together, while Fern also has twins Harry and Jack, and daughter Grace, with her ex Clive Jones.
Phil went on to admit he tries to remain positive in spite of any challenges he faces in his personal life.
“Life… You’ve got to be positive and I’m always a positive person,” he added.
