US actress Betty White has died aged 99. The legendary star died on Friday morning, just weeks before turning 100.
Betty’s death was confirmed New Year’s Eve, sharing she had died earlier this morning.
Currently, no cause of death has been confirmed for the legendary actor.
In a statement to PEOPLE, her agent and close friend Jeff Witjas shared the news.
He said: “Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever.
“I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much.
“I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden.
“She believed she would be with him again.”
The star was well known for her long career on screen, which spanned over nine decaces.
Some of her biggest roles included The Golden Girls, The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Hot in Cleveland.
Born in 1922, the star began her career at just eight when she starred on her first radio show.
This means she’s worked longer than anyone else in the television industry.
She had recently opened up about preparing for her 100th birthday this year.
Betty was due to mark the landmark occasion on January 17.
