Archie Mountbatten-Windsor to join parents Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on royal tour of South Africa

Details of Archie Mountbatten-Windsor’s first royal tour have been announced, almost two months after his birth.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their first child on 6 May, and have now revealed that he will join them on a tour of South Africa later this year.

The announcement of Meghan’s first tour since giving birth to her firstborn was made on the pair’s Sussex Royal Instagram page on Thursday.

They wrote to their 8.8million followers: “TRH The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited to announce that they have been asked to carry out a tour to Southern Africa this autumn.

“The Foreign and Commonwealth Office have requested a visit to South Africa as well as The Duke carrying out visits to Malawi and Angola.

“His Royal Highness will also do a short working visit to Botswana on route to the other countries.

“The Duke and Duchess are really looking forward to meeting so many of you on the ground and continuing to raise awareness of the high impact work local communities are doing across the commonwealth and beyond.”

Seemingly confining the inclusion of baby Archie, they finished the post: “This will be their first official tour as a family!”

Fans of the Royal trio were quick to comment their excitement over the trip, with one writing: “Archie's first overseas trip is AFRICA.”

Another praised the Duchess: “I love the fact the Meghan has not left Archie’s side since he was born. I have no doubt that these two are amazing parents. Can not wait to see them all together as a family!”

The announcement comes weeks after Harry and Meghan shared a brand new image of Archie to celebrate The Duke of Sussex’s first Father’s Day.

With his eyes open, Archie was seen sweetly holding onto Harry’s finger, as he is dressed in a white babygro.

The stunning image was captioned: “Happy Father’s Day! And wishing a very special first Father’s Day to The Duke of Sussex.”
